5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
---|
6 | 6 | | of Alice in mourning the loss of noted educator Antonio Botello |
---|
7 | 7 | | Jr., who died February 4, 2015, at the age of 68; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Tony Botello was born in Kenedy to Manuela and |
---|
9 | 9 | | Antonio Botello; he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech |
---|
10 | 10 | | University and a master's degree from Texas A&I University; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife of 50 years, Hilda, raised |
---|
12 | 12 | | three children together, Raymond, Laura, and Lillian, and were |
---|
13 | 13 | | blessed with six grandchildren; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Botello served the people of Alice as a teacher |
---|
15 | 15 | | and an administrator in the Alice Independent School District for |
---|
16 | 16 | | more than three decades; after his career as an educator, he |
---|
17 | 17 | | continued to play a role in the district by serving as a member of |
---|
18 | 18 | | its board of directors and as the board's secretary; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, He was a passionate supporter of Alice High School |
---|
20 | 20 | | athletics and became known as the "Voice of the Alice Coyotes" |
---|
21 | 21 | | for his work as the broadcaster for the football team; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He was a man of courage, strength, and compassion |
---|
23 | 23 | | who gave unselfishly to others, and his commitment to public |
---|
24 | 24 | | service and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest |
---|
25 | 25 | | will not be forgotten; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, |
---|
27 | 27 | | and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all |
---|
28 | 28 | | who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
31 | 31 | | family of Antonio Botello; and, be it further |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
33 | 33 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
