SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 250 In Memory of Antonio Botello Jr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Alice in mourning the loss of noted educator Antonio Botello Jr., who died February 4, 2015, at the age of 68; and WHEREAS, Tony Botello was born in Kenedy to Manuela and Antonio Botello; he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a master's degree from Texas A&I University; and WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife of 50 years, Hilda, raised three children together, Raymond, Laura, and Lillian, and were blessed with six grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Botello served the people of Alice as a teacher and an administrator in the Alice Independent School District for more than three decades; after his career as an educator, he continued to play a role in the district by serving as a member of its board of directors and as the board's secretary; and WHEREAS, He was a passionate supporter of Alice High School athletics and became known as the "Voice of the Alice Coyotes" for his work as the broadcaster for the football team; and WHEREAS, He was a man of courage, strength, and compassion who gave unselfishly to others, and his commitment to public service and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Antonio Botello; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Antonio Botello Jr. Hinojosa ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on February 24, 2015, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
