SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 257
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Lucy E. Elizardi, who is retiring in May of 2015 from
the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District after a
distinguished 40-year career as an educator; and
WHEREAS, Lucy Elizardi is a graduate of Pan American
University; she began her career in education as a
paraprofessional in Brownsville before joining the public school
system in Harlingen; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of her career in the district, she
has taught at Jefferson Elementary School, Sam Houston
Elementary School, and Coakley Middle School, where she has
served for 21 years; and
WHEREAS, Her students have greatly benefited from her
skillful teaching methods, her sincere concern for the
individual, and her wise counsel and encouragement; dedicated
and resourceful, she has instilled in her students an
appreciation for challenge and a love of learning; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary educator, she is respected and
admired by her students and her colleagues, and her presence in
the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District will be
greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Lucy E. Elizardi on her commitment to
her students and her profession and extend to her best wishes for
continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
