SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 277 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins citizens across the state in celebrating March 3, 2015, as Space Day at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Johnson Space Center have an outstanding record of intrepid space exploration and scientific discovery, and they provide Texans and people around the world with opportunities to learn about the planet Earth and space; and WHEREAS, Every other year, the Johnson Space Center and its industry partners bring Space Day to the Texas Capitol; this enjoyable and informative event offers interactive exhibits, knowledgeable speakers, and fascinating presentations; and WHEREAS, More than 1,000 students from all grade levels come together on Space Day to collaborate and learn more about the science of space; programs like Space Day inspire many students to focus their studies on science, mathematics, and technology and to plan futures as our next generation of scientific leaders; and WHEREAS, The directors and staff at NASA and the Johnson Space Center continue to drive innovation in the aerospace and technical industries in the Lone Star State and to inspire citizens everywhere to reach for the stars; they are indeed worthy of recognition for their invaluable contributions to our state and country; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the work of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Johnson Space Center and extend best wishes to all for a rewarding Space Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this event.
