                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 305
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church on the grand
 occasion of its mortgage burning celebration, which is taking
 place March 14, 2015; and
 WHEREAS, The Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church was the
 first black Seventh-Day Adventist Church established in Houston,
 and it has been serving the Houston area for more than 75 years; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout its history, the church has ministered
 faithfully to the spiritual and temporal needs of countless
 individuals; and
 WHEREAS, Under the guidance and wise stewardship of its
 pastors and the leadership of its current pastor, Clarence
 Williams III, the church has continued to grow and to play a vital
 role in the life of the community; and
 WHEREAS, The Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church has
 become an invaluable source of strength for its members during
 times of hardship and bereavement and a place of fellowship
 during times of abundance and celebration; and
 WHEREAS, The Berean Houston Mortgage Burning Celebration
 is an opportunity to reflect on the church's rich history and on
 the ministries it has established to the benefit of the
 community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members
 of the Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church on the joyous occasion
 of their mortgage burning celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this occasion.
