| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | welcome the Angleton Chamber of Commerce and its Leadership Class |

| 4 | 4 | | of 2015 to the Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Angleton Chamber of Commerce has established |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | this leadership program to promote and foster the development of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | community leaders for the Angleton area by introducing participants |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | to the region's assets, needs, and opportunities; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Angleton was founded in 1890 and is the seat of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Brazoria County; each year, the community hosts the Brazoria |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | County Fair, considered to be the largest county fair in the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | state; other annual events include the Austin Town Festival, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Freedom Festival, and the Heart of Christmas; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Angleton area provides residents and visitors |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | opportunities for a wide range of outdoor activities, with its |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and the Brazoria National |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Wildlife Refuge; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The nearby Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Site is a pleasant place to visit and offers a window into the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | lives of the region's people in the 19th century; in addition, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Angleton's expansive park system features such amenities as a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | disc golf course, fitness trails, horseshoe pits, butterfly |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | gardens, and youth sports complexes; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the people of Angleton on their many |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | contributions to the beauty and prosperity of our state and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extend to the Angleton Chamber of Commerce and its Leadership |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Class of 2015 best wishes for a productive and rewarding day at |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | the chamber and this leadership class as an expression of esteem |
