SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 319 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to welcome the Angleton Chamber of Commerce and its Leadership Class of 2015 to the Capitol; and WHEREAS, The Angleton Chamber of Commerce has established this leadership program to promote and foster the development of community leaders for the Angleton area by introducing participants to the region's assets, needs, and opportunities; and WHEREAS, Angleton was founded in 1890 and is the seat of Brazoria County; each year, the community hosts the Brazoria County Fair, considered to be the largest county fair in the state; other annual events include the Austin Town Festival, Freedom Festival, and the Heart of Christmas; and WHEREAS, The Angleton area provides residents and visitors opportunities for a wide range of outdoor activities, with its close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge; and WHEREAS, The nearby Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site is a pleasant place to visit and offers a window into the lives of the region's people in the 19th century; in addition, Angleton's expansive park system features such amenities as a disc golf course, fitness trails, horseshoe pits, butterfly gardens, and youth sports complexes; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the people of Angleton on their many contributions to the beauty and prosperity of our state and extend to the Angleton Chamber of Commerce and its Leadership Class of 2015 best wishes for a productive and rewarding day at the Capitol; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the chamber and this leadership class as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
