| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Elizabeth Chu Richter of Corpus Christi, who has been |

| 4 | 4 | | named president of the American Institute of Architects for |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | 2015; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Elizabeth Chu Richter is a 1974 graduate of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture; she and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | her husband, David, founded Richter Architects the next year; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Richter Architects has grown to employ 15 people |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and has designed such projects as the Congressman |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, West Oso High School, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, which received a Brick in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Architecture Gold Award; the company also received the 2011 Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Society of Architects Firm Award; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Elizabeth Chu Richter has previously served as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | president of the Texas Society of Architects and as regional |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | director representing Texas on the American Institute of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Architects board; her goal as incoming president of the institute |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | is to raise awareness of the ways architecture shapes daily life |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and its profound impact on society; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, She has made countless contributions to her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | community and her profession, and it is truly fitting that she |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | receive special recognition for her accomplishments; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 84th Legislature, hereby commend Elizabeth Chu Richter on her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | many achievements and extend congratulations to her on being |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | named president of the American Institute of Architects; and, be |
