SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 32 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Elizabeth Chu Richter of Corpus Christi, who has been named president of the American Institute of Architects for 2015; and WHEREAS, Elizabeth Chu Richter is a 1974 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture; she and her husband, David, founded Richter Architects the next year; and WHEREAS, Richter Architects has grown to employ 15 people and has designed such projects as the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, West Oso High School, and the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, which received a Brick in Architecture Gold Award; the company also received the 2011 Texas Society of Architects Firm Award; and WHEREAS, Elizabeth Chu Richter has previously served as president of the Texas Society of Architects and as regional director representing Texas on the American Institute of Architects board; her goal as incoming president of the institute is to raise awareness of the ways architecture shapes daily life and its profound impact on society; and WHEREAS, She has made countless contributions to her community and her profession, and it is truly fitting that she receive special recognition for her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Elizabeth Chu Richter on her many achievements and extend congratulations to her on being named president of the American Institute of Architects; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
