| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the I See You art exhibit, which is currently on |

| 4 | 4 | | display at the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The I See You exhibit brings together a unique mix |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of modern and traditional works by artists who are Texas natives |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | or those who have artwork in Texas collections; the works tell |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the stories of leaders, both celebrated and overlooked, who have |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | stood up for equality and justice; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The name of the exhibit is a tribute to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | African greeting Sawa Bona, which acknowledges our shared human |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | connection and celebrates our collective existence; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The exhibit is a curated collection of works |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | created by artists Kelley Devine, Mario Figueroa Jr., Jennifer |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Hannaford, Robert Hodge, Taft McWhorter, and Steven Silverstein; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | it will be on display at the Capitol office of Senator Rodney |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Ellis throughout the 84th Legislative Session; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, I See You represents the hope, strength, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | progressiveness of the Lone Star State and celebrates those who |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | have championed liberty and human rights, and all who helped |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | organize the exhibit are indeed deserving of recognition; now, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the artists and curators of the I See |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | You exhibit for their efforts to preserve the rich history of our |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | state and to tell the stories of the many leaders who have served |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | as champions of liberty; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a |
