SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 327 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the I See You art exhibit, which is currently on display at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, The I See You exhibit brings together a unique mix of modern and traditional works by artists who are Texas natives or those who have artwork in Texas collections; the works tell the stories of leaders, both celebrated and overlooked, who have stood up for equality and justice; and WHEREAS, The name of the exhibit is a tribute to the African greeting Sawa Bona, which acknowledges our shared human connection and celebrates our collective existence; and WHEREAS, The exhibit is a curated collection of works created by artists Kelley Devine, Mario Figueroa Jr., Jennifer Hannaford, Robert Hodge, Taft McWhorter, and Steven Silverstein; it will be on display at the Capitol office of Senator Rodney Ellis throughout the 84th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, I See You represents the hope, strength, and progressiveness of the Lone Star State and celebrates those who have championed liberty and human rights, and all who helped organize the exhibit are indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the artists and curators of the I See You exhibit for their efforts to preserve the rich history of our state and to tell the stories of the many leaders who have served as champions of liberty; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a memento of this special event.
