| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Reverend Alan Kirk Brown on the occasion of his |

| 4 | 4 | | 30th anniversary as pastor of First Mount Carmel Missionary |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Baptist Church, which is being celebrated March 15, 2015; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Over the last 30 years, Pastor Brown has |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | ministered faithfully to the spiritual and temporal needs of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | countless people; under his exceptional leadership, the church |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | has continued to grow and to play a vital role in the life of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Houston's historic Fifth Ward community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, An accomplished scholar and theologian, Pastor |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Brown earned a degree at Houston Baptist University and continued |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | his studies at the Howard University School of Divinity, the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the Houston |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Graduate School of Theology; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Pastor Brown has served as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | minister at innumerable baptisms, weddings, and funerals; he has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | prayed with and counseled church members in times of hardship and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | bereavement and given thanks with them in times of celebration; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Brown has had a profound impact on his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | congregation and his community, and it is truly fitting that he |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | receive special recognition for his dedication and leadership; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Reverend Alan Kirk Brown on 30 |

| 26 | 26 | | years of outstanding service as pastor of First Mount Carmel |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him best wishes for |
