SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 338 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Reverend Alan Kirk Brown on the occasion of his 30th anniversary as pastor of First Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, which is being celebrated March 15, 2015; and WHEREAS, Over the last 30 years, Pastor Brown has ministered faithfully to the spiritual and temporal needs of countless people; under his exceptional leadership, the church has continued to grow and to play a vital role in the life of Houston's historic Fifth Ward community; and WHEREAS, An accomplished scholar and theologian, Pastor Brown earned a degree at Houston Baptist University and continued his studies at the Howard University School of Divinity, the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the Houston Graduate School of Theology; and WHEREAS, Through the years, Pastor Brown has served as minister at innumerable baptisms, weddings, and funerals; he has prayed with and counseled church members in times of hardship and bereavement and given thanks with them in times of celebration; and WHEREAS, Pastor Brown has had a profound impact on his congregation and his community, and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for his dedication and leadership; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the Reverend Alan Kirk Brown on 30 years of outstanding service as pastor of First Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
