                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 358
 WHEREAS, The 100 Club, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is
 celebrating its 62nd continuous year of service to law
 enforcement and firefighting agencies; and
 WHEREAS, The 100 Club is a 30,600-member nonprofit
 organization whose services primarily involve providing benefits
 to the dependents of officers and firefighters killed or
 catastrophically injured in the line of duty; and
 WHEREAS, The organization provides this support to law
 enforcement officers and firefighters in 31 counties in
 southeast Texas and also to Texas Department of Public Safety and
 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department commissioned officers, Texas
 Department of Criminal Justice institutional personnel, and
 agents of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission who are killed
 in the line of duty anywhere in the State of Texas; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to providing line-of-duty death
 benefits, The 100 Club has for over 30 years had a proactive
 program of providing life-protecting equipment for law
 enforcement agencies in its primary coverage area in hopes of
 preventing the loss of an officer's life; and
 WHEREAS, The 100 Club also has an educational mission, and
 it has awarded numerous scholarships to law enforcement officers
 studying at three state-supported universities; more than 700
 degrees have been awarded to participants in the club's
 educational programs; and
 WHEREAS, Since its inception, The 100 Club has given over
 $42.7 million in support of its mission; this fine organization
 istrulyworthyofcommendationforitsongoingeffortsonbehalf
 of those who risk their lives to serve the public; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby acknowledge the selfless and dedicated
 efforts of The 100 Club in its support of law enforcement
 personnel and firefighters, especially the support given to the
 dependents of those heroes who lost their lives in the line of
 duty; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared to
 commemorate the outstanding work of The 100 Club.
