SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 36 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Saint Joseph Catholic School in Bryan on the occasion of its 120th anniversary, which is being celebrated January 28, 2015; and WHEREAS, Saint Joseph Catholic School opened its doors in the fall of 1894; it has grown from a single school building to an entire school system on three campuses that educates children from eight weeks old through high school; it is the only Catholic school in the state to serve such a wide range of ages in its students; and WHEREAS, The school is under the leadership of Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey, who instituted a three-tiered vision under which the school encourages excellence in faith formation, education, and athletics; its more than 350 students are served by a dedicated faculty and staff; and WHEREAS, The celebration of the school's 120th anniversary is being held in conjunction with National Catholic Schools Week, which is being observed January 25 through 31, 2015; and WHEREAS, Saint Joseph Catholic School has been an important part of the Bryan community for 120 years, and this exceptional educational institution is truly worthy of legislative recognition for its long history of service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of Saint Joseph Catholic School on their commitment to education and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 120th anniversary celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
