| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Bee County Judge David Silva, who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | March 16, 2015, at the age of 70; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, David Silva was born on May 26, 1944, in Beeville; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | a 1963 graduate of A. C. Jones High School, he served the nation |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | with distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He married Yolanda Olivares on July 11, 1970, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | they shared 44 years of marriage together; they were blessed with |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | two daughters, Cassandra and Cristianna, and a granddaughter, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Audria; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He earned a master's degree from Texas A&I |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | University in Corpus Christi, and he enjoyed a long and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | fulfilling career in academia at Bee County College, later known |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | as Coastal Bend College; he was named Teacher of the Year on |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | multiple occasions and served as chair of the Social Science |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Division; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, After his retirement, he began a second career in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | public service; he served as a municipal court judge, and in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 2006, he was elected Bee County Judge and became the first judge |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | in the county to be elected to the office three times; he was |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | active in a number of community organizations and served on |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | several boards and committees; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Judge Silva was a man of courage, integrity, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | strength, and his devotion to his family, his deep religious |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | faith, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | not be forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | family of David Silva; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
