SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 462
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Esteban Toledo, who has been named the 2015 Texas
Legend for the Eddie Lucio Scholarship Fund; and
WHEREAS, Esteban Toledo is a celebrated professional
golfer who began playing golf while serving as a young staff
member at a driving range in his hometown of Mexicali; when
Esteban was in his early 20s, a California businessman sponsored
him for United States citizenship and paid for him to pursue a
professional golfing career; and
WHEREAS, He has found incredible success on the
professional circuit and has in turn helped shape the futures of
aspiring golfers in his native country; his charitable efforts
recently enabled six talented athletes to join the qualifying
tournament for the Professional Golfers' Association Tour; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his efforts to help aspiring
golfers, Mr. Toledo established the Esteban Toledo Family
Foundation, an organization focused on helping families and
children in poverty by providing them with food, clothing,
shelter, and spiritual guidance; and
WHEREAS, Esteban Toledo is a respected and admired
athlete, and it is indeed fitting that he be honored for his
outstanding career in professional sports and for his many
humanitarian contributions to people in need and to young
athletes in Mexico; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Esteban Toledo for his numerous
charitable endeavors and congratulate him on being named the 2015
Texas Legend for the Eddie Lucio Scholarship Fund; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
