1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 467
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize United Pentecostal Church of Weches on the occasion of
4	4	its 90th anniversary, which is being celebrated April 19, 2015;
5	5	and
6	6	WHEREAS, United Pentecostal Church of Weches traces its
7	7	roots to a group of worshippers led by the Reverend Edwin Roark,
8	8	who served as the church's pastor for more than 20 years; the
9	9	congregation met outdoors, in tents, and at various locations for
10	10	many years, until a permanent home for the church was found in
11	11	1950; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Through the years, United Pentecostal Church of
13	13	Weches has ministered to the temporal and spiritual needs of
14	14	countless people; under the guidance and wise stewardship of its
15	15	pastors, and with the leadership of its current pastor, the
16	16	Reverend Richard Motes Jr., it has continued to grow and to play a
17	17	vital role in the life of the Weches community; and
18	18	WHEREAS, The church has become an invaluable source of
19	19	strength for church members in times of hardship and bereavement and
20	20	a place of fellowship in times of abundance and celebration; and
21	21	WHEREAS, The observance of its 90th anniversary is a
22	22	reflection of the church's enduring commitment to providing
23	23	enlightenment and hope to its congregation; now, therefore, be it
24	24	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
25	25	Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the members and clergy
26	26	of United Pentecostal Church of Weches on the joyous occasion of
27	27	its 90th anniversary; and, be it further
28	28	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
29	29	the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
