| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize James P. Graham, who has been named the recipient of |

| 4 | 4 | | the 2015 Spirit of the Centennial Award by the Friends of Fair |

| 5 | 5 | | Park; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jim Graham is owner, president, and chairman of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Palo Petroleum, Incorporated, an independent oil and gas |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | exploration firm in Dallas; he is a graduate of The University of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Texas at Austin and holds a master of business administration |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | degree from Southern Methodist University; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He has been a strong supporter of the Friends of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Fair Park for many years and has served as the organization's |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | president; in recognition of his exemplary service, the group |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | named him a charter member of the Knights of Magnolia Society; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Graham played a central role in bringing the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | World Cup to Dallas in 1994, and he was instrumental in the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | success of the event, which contributed more than $300 million to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the local economy and raised the profile of Fair Park and Dallas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | around the world; he has been a leader in promoting soccer in the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | region and has chaired the advisory board of CitiBeat, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Incorporated, an inner-city youth soccer program; he served as |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | president and managing general partner of the Major Indoor Soccer |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | League champion Dallas Sidekicks and has been inducted into the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | North Texas Soccer Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, He has served as president and committee chair |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | with the Dallas Park and Recreation Board and is chair of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | FriendsofDallasParks;heistrulydeservingofspecial |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | recognition for his many contributions to his profession and to |

| 29 | 29 | | his community; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend James P. Graham on his many achievements |

| 32 | 32 | | and his exemplary efforts on behalf of the Friends of Fair Park |

| 33 | 33 | | and extend to him congratulations on being named the recipient of |
