SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 482
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize James P. Graham, who has been named the recipient of
the 2015 Spirit of the Centennial Award by the Friends of Fair
Park; and
WHEREAS, Jim Graham is owner, president, and chairman of
Palo Petroleum, Incorporated, an independent oil and gas
exploration firm in Dallas; he is a graduate of The University of
Texas at Austin and holds a master of business administration
degree from Southern Methodist University; and
WHEREAS, He has been a strong supporter of the Friends of
Fair Park for many years and has served as the organization's
president; in recognition of his exemplary service, the group
named him a charter member of the Knights of Magnolia Society; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Graham played a central role in bringing the
World Cup to Dallas in 1994, and he was instrumental in the
success of the event, which contributed more than $300 million to
the local economy and raised the profile of Fair Park and Dallas
around the world; he has been a leader in promoting soccer in the
region and has chaired the advisory board of CitiBeat,
Incorporated, an inner-city youth soccer program; he served as
president and managing general partner of the Major Indoor Soccer
League champion Dallas Sidekicks and has been inducted into the
North Texas Soccer Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, He has served as president and committee chair
with the Dallas Park and Recreation Board and is chair of the
FriendsofDallasParks;heistrulydeservingofspecial
recognition for his many contributions to his profession and to
his community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend James P. Graham on his many achievements
and his exemplary efforts on behalf of the Friends of Fair Park
and extend to him congratulations on being named the recipient of
the 2015 Spirit of the Centennial Award; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
