| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Bexar County Junior Livestock Show BBQ Cook-off |

| 3 | 3 | | is taking place on April 24 and 25, 2015, in San Antonio; and |

| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Association, the cook-off serves as a showcase for Texas-style |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | cuisine as entrants vie to produce the tastiest brisket, pork spare |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | ribs, and chicken, as well as other meats and side dishes; cash |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | prizes are awarded to the top-finishing pit masters, and attendees |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | can also enjoy live music, a car show, auctions, and arts and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | crafts; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Proceeds from the event benefit the Build a Barn |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and Scholarship Fund administered by the Bexar County Junior |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Livestock Show, a nonprofit organization committed to youth |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | development; for more than 50 years, the group's volunteers have |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | promoted education in the agricultural sciences by sponsoring |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | livestock programs, livestock and land judging activities, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | projects related to agricultural mechanics and food and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | nutrition; these dedicated individuals also devote numerous |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | hours to raising scholarship funds to benefit young Texans who |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | have demonstrated outstanding community service and enthusiasm |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | for agricultural studies; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The Bexar County Junior Livestock Show is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | providing participants with opportunities to learn lifelong |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | skills and values, and special recognition is owed to the men and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | women who have worked tirelessly to ensure its success; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby honor the Bexar County Junior Livestock Show |

| 29 | 29 | | and its annual barbecue cook-off event and commend all those |

| 30 | 30 | | associated with the group for their immeasurable contributions to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the community and to the young people of Texas; and, be it further |
