| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Nancy Newman de Anda on her 2015 induction into the |

| 4 | 4 | | Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Nancy de Anda was born in San Antonio and grew up |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | in Laredo; she is a graduate of United High School and of Bauder |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | College in Arlington, and she married Javier de Anda in 1978; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | after college, Mrs. de Anda worked for two years in the family |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | business, B. P. Newman Investment Company, and then took time to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | devote herself to her family, her home, and her children; she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | rejoined the company in 1994, when her youngest child began |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | school, and she has served as vice president since 2006; she |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | currently oversees the company's real estate operations; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. de Anda is active with numerous charitable |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and civic organizations, including the Children's Advocacy |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Center and the Laredo Area Community Foundation; she has been a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | dedicated volunteer for local schools and a board member for the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Laredo Children's Museum, and she is a current member of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Society of Martha Washington; she is truly deserving of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | recognition for her many contributions to the community; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Nancy Newman de Anda on her many |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | achievements and extend congratulations to her on her induction |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, |
