SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 512 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Nancy Newman de Anda on her 2015 induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and WHEREAS, Nancy de Anda was born in San Antonio and grew up in Laredo; she is a graduate of United High School and of Bauder College in Arlington, and she married Javier de Anda in 1978; after college, Mrs. de Anda worked for two years in the family business, B. P. Newman Investment Company, and then took time to devote herself to her family, her home, and her children; she rejoined the company in 1994, when her youngest child began school, and she has served as vice president since 2006; she currently oversees the company's real estate operations; and WHEREAS, Mrs. de Anda is active with numerous charitable and civic organizations, including the Children's Advocacy Center and the Laredo Area Community Foundation; she has been a dedicated volunteer for local schools and a board member for the Laredo Children's Museum, and she is a current member of the Society of Martha Washington; she is truly deserving of recognition for her many contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Nancy Newman de Anda on her many achievements and extend congratulations to her on her induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
