| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Javier de Anda on his 2015 induction into the Junior |

| 4 | 4 | | Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Javier de Anda is a native of Laredo and a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | graduate of Saint Edward's University; he got his start in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | business under the mentorship of his father at the family's |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | business, Juvencio's Men's Wear, before venturing out on his own |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | as the operator of a service station and car wash; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, He formed a partnership with B. P. Newman in 1980 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to bring a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen franchise to Laredo; the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | operation soon began to expand and today, the partnership |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | operates 29 Popeyes locations across Texas, Louisiana, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Arkansas; through the years, the partnership has received |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | numerous awards, including Franchisee of the Year and the Gold |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Plate Award; he has also diversified his holdings to include more |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | than 30 Church's Chicken locations; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, He has been active in his community through his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | service with multiple organizations, including the boards of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Texas Mega Co-op, Commerce Bank, the Laredo Country Club, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Keep Laredo Beautiful; it is truly fitting that he receive |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | special recognition for his many contributions to the economic |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | vitality of the region; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Javier de Anda on his many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | achievements and extend congratulations to him on his induction |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, |
