SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 513
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Javier de Anda on his 2015 induction into the Junior
Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership
with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and
prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and
WHEREAS, Javier de Anda is a native of Laredo and a
graduate of Saint Edward's University; he got his start in
business under the mentorship of his father at the family's
business, Juvencio's Men's Wear, before venturing out on his own
as the operator of a service station and car wash; and
WHEREAS, He formed a partnership with B. P. Newman in 1980
to bring a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen franchise to Laredo; the
operation soon began to expand and today, the partnership
operates 29 Popeyes locations across Texas, Louisiana, and
Arkansas; through the years, the partnership has received
numerous awards, including Franchisee of the Year and the Gold
Plate Award; he has also diversified his holdings to include more
than 30 Church's Chicken locations; and
WHEREAS, He has been active in his community through his
service with multiple organizations, including the boards of
Texas Mega Co-op, Commerce Bank, the Laredo Country Club, and
Keep Laredo Beautiful; it is truly fitting that he receive
special recognition for his many contributions to the economic
vitality of the region; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Javier de Anda on his many
achievements and extend congratulations to him on his induction
into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
