SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 522
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
welcome the members of the 11th grade class of East Austin
College Prep, who are visiting the Capitol on April 9, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The East Austin College Prep Day at the Capitol is
hosted by the Senator Gregory Luna Legislative Scholars and
Fellows Program to enable participants to learn about the
legislative process and the history of the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, The vision of East Austin College Prep is to serve
as a model school with a rigorous curriculum that successfully
prepares all students, regardless of economic background, for
graduation and success in college and career, while also
instilling a commitment to community service; and
WHEREAS, During their visit to the Capitol, East Austin
College Prep students will engage in a mock senate and a tour of
the Capitol, while Senate staff members guide them through the
process; and
WHEREAS, The members of the 11th grade class of East Austin
College Prep are Adriana Tavira, Victoria Haros-Jaimes, Michael
Alvarez, Laura Plascencio, Kevin Hernandez, Diana Aguirre, Lizet
Evangelista, Marielys Galeas, Miguel Carbajal, Athziry Loredo,
Destiny Botello, Luis Alvarez-Banda, Miguel Vanoye, Alexis
Perez-Aragon, Jennifer Gonzales, Christian Gomez, Francisco
Serna, Macey Amaya, Ana Orozco, Arlette Flores, Hugo Cisneros,
Rogelio Lucio, Ashley Medellin, Frank Roe, Jacinto Castro,
Arnold Villanueva, Ernesto DelToro, and Thelma Manzano, and they
are ably led and supported by their teachers, Erica Gonzalez,
Adrianna Adame, and Matthew Giles; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend all those participating in East
Austin College Prep Day at the Capitol and extend to them best
wishes for a successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
