| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Proud residents of Fulshear are gathering in |

| 3 | 3 | | Austin to celebrate Fulshear Day at the State Capitol on April |

| 4 | 4 | | 13, 2015; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Situated in northwestern Fort Bend County, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Fulshear began as a small farming community that grew up in the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1820s around the cotton gin and flour mill of the plantation of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Churchill Fulshear, one of Stephen F. Austin's original Old Three |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Hundred settlers; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In 1888, the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | moved into the area, and in 1890, the town of Fulshear was laid |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | out; that same year, the town received a post office, and three |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | years later, a school district was established; for many years, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | it was a marketing center for local agricultural products such as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | rice, cotton, soybeans, pecans, and cattle; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Today, Fulshear is drawing many new residents who |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | are attracted by its small-town charm and proximity to the urban |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | amenities of Houston; the population of the city is booming, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | it is one of the fastest-growing communities in Fort Bend County; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to prepare for continued expansion, the city is upgrading its |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | streets and roads to accommodate a number of proposed |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | master-planned developments while also working to attract |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | premier retailers to the area; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Proud of their relaxed and comfortable lifestyle |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and friendly business environment, the residents of Fulshear |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | continue to honor their rich history as they look forward to a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby recognize April 13, 2015, as Fulshear Day at |

| 30 | 30 | | the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere |
