SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 551 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Senior Corporal Charlie Ramirez, who is being honored for 40 years of service with the Texas Department of Public Safety on April 16, 2015; and WHEREAS, Charlie Ramirez began his career by serving as a coach and a teacher in the Eden Independent School District; during this time, he also served as a reserve deputy sheriff in Tom Green County; and WHEREAS, He joined the Texas Department of Public Safety as soon as height restrictions for state officers were lifted in 1975, and he has served departments in El Paso, San Angelo, and Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, A distinguished leader in his field, Charlie Ramirez holds a master peace officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement; he was honored with the 1996 National W. H. Hale Memorial Award for his original "Pitch in for Safety" presentation; and WHEREAS, Charlie Ramirez is an outstanding public servant who has dedicated his life to serving the citizens of Texas, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for his years of excellence in the field of public safety; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Senior Corporal Charlie Ramirez for his many contributions to our state and congratulate him on receiving a Texas Department of Public Safety 40-Year Service Award; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
