| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Joyce Maxine Whigham Dorrycott on the grand occasion of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | her 85th birthday on April 13, 2015; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Dorrycott is a beloved resident of San |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Antonio and has lived an exemplary life of service to her |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | community and her state; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, She has taught at both the secondary and higher |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | education levels, and she is a prominent supporter of the Democratic |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Party, for which she has served as a campaign consultant and local |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | leader; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A truly outstanding citizen, Joyce Dorrycott has |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | served on a number of countywide commissions, and she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | successfully lobbied the Texas Legislature for laws on behalf of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | victims of family violence and child abuse; she established the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Family Violence unit in the Bexar County District Attorney's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Office, and she was appointed by Governor Mark White to serve the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Children's Trust Fund of Texas; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This distinguished lady married the love of her |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | life, Donald Francis Green in 1980; they shared a life of love and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | devotion until his passing on April 26, 2008; their union created |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | a family of nine children, 16 grandchildren, and 10 |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Dorrycott has had an immeasurable impact on |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the lives of many Texans, and her 85th birthday is cause for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | celebration with her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Joyce Maxine Whigham Dorrycott as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a treasured citizen of this state and extend to her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | congratulations on her 85th birthday; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 32 | 32 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
