SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 558 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Joyce Maxine Whigham Dorrycott on the grand occasion of her 85th birthday on April 13, 2015; and WHEREAS, Joyce Dorrycott is a beloved resident of San Antonio and has lived an exemplary life of service to her community and her state; and WHEREAS, She has taught at both the secondary and higher education levels, and she is a prominent supporter of the Democratic Party, for which she has served as a campaign consultant and local leader; and WHEREAS, A truly outstanding citizen, Joyce Dorrycott has served on a number of countywide commissions, and she successfully lobbied the Texas Legislature for laws on behalf of victims of family violence and child abuse; she established the Family Violence unit in the Bexar County District Attorney's Office, and she was appointed by Governor Mark White to serve the Children's Trust Fund of Texas; and WHEREAS, This distinguished lady married the love of her life, Donald Francis Green in 1980; they shared a life of love and devotion until his passing on April 26, 2008; their union created a family of nine children, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Joyce Dorrycott has had an immeasurable impact on the lives of many Texans, and her 85th birthday is cause for celebration with her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby recognize Joyce Maxine Whigham Dorrycott as a treasured citizen of this state and extend to her congratulations on her 85th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
