| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Don Bigbie, who died April 9, 2015, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 70; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Don Bigbie was born on January 4, 1945, in Bowie, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to John and Viola Bigbie; he met his wife, Penny, while attending |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Texas State University; they raised two daughters, Ashley and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Lindsey, and were blessed with five grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bigbie worked for many years with Braniff |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Airlines, rising to the position of director of International |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sales; he later founded his own tourism company to promote Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and tourism internationally; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, After his retirement, he established Cross |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Timbers Winery, which has won numerous state, national, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | international awards; he was active in a variety of community |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | organizations in Grapevine; he served for 20 years as chair of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau, and he served as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | president of the Grapevine Ambucs; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and vision who gave |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family of Don Bigbie; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
