SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 562
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Wild Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ Cook-Off in Bishop; and
WHEREAS, Held in conjunction with the city's other Wild
Horse Desert Round-Up festivities, the cook-off is sanctioned by
the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the
organization's annual state cook-offs, and it features lively
competition and good eating; skilled pit masters put their
talents to the test as they vie to produce the tastiest smoked
meats, with cash prizes going to the top finishers; and
WHEREAS, This highly anticipated get-together has taken
place each year since 2010 and offers area residents and visitors
alike an opportunity to sample some excellent food while
supporting a worthy cause; proceeds are used to fund the Bishop
Chamber of Commerce scholarship program, which benefits deserving
seniors at Bishop High School; and
WHEREAS, A fun-filled event for people of all ages, the
Wild Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ Cook-Off has become a popular
celebration of Texas-style food and is all the more special for
the scholarship assistance it provides to local students seeking
to further their education; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commemorate the Wild Horse Desert Round-Up
BBQ Cook-Off and extend sincere best wishes to the event's
participants and organizers for an enjoyable and rewarding
experience.
