| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the citizens of Millsap in celebrating the dedication of |

| 4 | 4 | | Millsap United Methodist Church as a Recorded Texas Historic |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Landmark on April 26, 2015; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Millsap United Methodist Church traces its roots |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to a congregation that formed in 1875, five years before Millsap |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | became an established town; the name of the church changed |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | several times through the years, however, the church continuously |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | supported the national and international programs of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Methodist religion; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of the Reverend G. M. Cloud, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the current church building was erected in 1924; the brick |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | structure was built in the shape of a cross in a style known as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | cruciform architecture; due to the historical significance of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the building, the church received approval for a Recorded Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Historic Landmark designation in 2014; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Millsap United Methodist |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Church has continued to grow and to play a vital role in the life |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of the Millsap community, and it is truly fitting that the church |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | receive recognition for its commitment to preserving its history |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and its longtime service to the community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the clergy and congregation of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Millsap United Methodist Church and extend to all best wishes for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a memorable Recorded Texas Historic Landmark dedication |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | ceremony; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
