44 Whitney Cotton
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Whitney Cotton, who died March 15, 2015,
77 at the age of 41; and
88 WHEREAS, Whitney Cotton was born on January 2, 1974, in
99 Silsbee, to Leola and William Cotton; he graduated from Buna High
1010 School, where he was a standout athlete in football and
1111 weightlifting; and
1212 WHEREAS, He moved to Austin to attend college and to begin
1313 a career; after working for a time in the computer industry, he
1414 embarked on a career in real estate, which allowed him to pursue
1515 his passion for helping others by assisting them in finding homes
1616 for their families; and
1717 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his
1818 daily life, Mr. Cotton was a member of Mount Sinai Missionary
1919 Baptist Church; he was a source of strength to those in need of
2020 support or shelter, and he strived to provide people with the
2121 things they needed to succeed in life; and
2222 WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and compassion who gave
2323 unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and
2424 his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
2525 forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and
2626 WHEREAS, He was a devoted and loving son and brother, and
2727 he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
2828 family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
3030 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3131 family of Whitney Cotton; and, be it further
3232 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3333 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3434 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3535 memory of Whitney Cotton.
