| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Whitney Cotton, who died March 15, 2015, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 41; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Whitney Cotton was born on January 2, 1974, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Silsbee, to Leola and William Cotton; he graduated from Buna High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School, where he was a standout athlete in football and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | weightlifting; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He moved to Austin to attend college and to begin |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | a career; after working for a time in the computer industry, he |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | embarked on a career in real estate, which allowed him to pursue |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | his passion for helping others by assisting them in finding homes |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for their families; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | daily life, Mr. Cotton was a member of Mount Sinai Missionary |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Baptist Church; he was a source of strength to those in need of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | support or shelter, and he strived to provide people with the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | things they needed to succeed in life; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and compassion who gave |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted and loving son and brother, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family of Whitney Cotton; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
