SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 584 In Memory of Patricia Gray WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Patricia Fitzsimmons Gray, who died April 2, 2015, at the age of 82; and WHEREAS, Patricia Fitzsimmons was born on June 28, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, and she spent much of her youth in Idaho Springs, a mining town in the Colorado Rocky Mountains; she graduated from Denver East High School and Philadelphia Modeling and Charm School; and WHEREAS, She married West Point Cadet Stanley M. Umstead when she was 19 years old, and his many deployments as an officer in the United States Air Force allowed them to travel the world; she found much fulfilment on their travels, as she embraced each deployment as a new opportunity to learn about other cultures; Patricia and Stanley were blessed with five daughters, who were each a source of immense pride and joy; and WHEREAS, After Stanley's passing, she married Major General David L. Gray, and they settled in Melbourne, Florida, where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with old and new friends; after his passing in 2006, she continued to fill her days in the company of good friends, and she also spent time painting; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Gray was a loving wife, mother, and grandmotherwhohadajoyousspiritandwasknownforlivingeach day to the fullest; she was respected and admired by many, and she leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Patricia Fitzsimmons Gray; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patricia Gray.
