                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 589
 WHEREAS, Many proud members of Howard Students with
 Purpose are visiting the State Capitol on April 28, 2015; and
 WHEREAS, Established for eighth graders at Howard Junior
 High School in Waxahachie, Howard Students with Purpose includes
 approximately 350 participants; the program is designed to
 promote good character and mature behavior while encouraging
 academic achievement and fostering positive relationships among
 classmates; and
 WHEREAS, Students in the program discover the benefits of
 setting and meeting goals, and they can earn opportunities for
 education and cultural experiences outside the classroom;
 moreover, they learn to network with others outside of their
 familiar groups; and
 WHEREAS, In order to take part in such activities as the
 trip to Austin, members of the group have engaged in fund-raising
 and organizational efforts; this event will allow them to tour
 The University of Texas campus, meet with college students from
 their hometown, and gain firsthand insights into how state
 government works; and
 WHEREAS, The members of Howard Students with Purpose are
 working diligently to make the most of their eighth-grade year,
 and in so doing, they are preparing themselves to excel in high
 school, higher education, and future careers; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commend the members of Howard Students with
 Purpose on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol and
 extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success.
