                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 591
 In Memory
 of
 Eustolio Gonzales
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Raymondville in mourning the loss of Judge Eustolio
 Gonzales, who died November 9, 2014, at the age of 86; and
 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Raymondville, Tolo Gonzales
 was guided by a deep love for his country and his community; he
 served his country with distinction in the United States Marine
 Corps during the Korean War, and he gained the respect and
 admiration of many as an educator and public servant; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales taught in the Raymondville
 Independent School District for 20 years, 15 of which were
 dedicated to the Migrant Program; he shared his expertise on
 migrant education with school districts in Texas, Wisconsin,
 Illinois, and Indiana as a lecturer and a consultant; and
 WHEREAS, A Democratic Party leader, he served as campaign
 chair and coordinator for such Texas legends as Lloyd Bentsen,
 Ann Richards, and Bob Krueger; he was the first elected Hispanic
 to serve as judge of Willacy County, and he was the first Hispanic
 mayor of Raymondville; he was a founder of Amigos Del Valle, and
 he served on numerous local and state boards; and
 WHEREAS, Tolo Gonzales was a loving husband, father,
 grandfather, and great-grandfather; he was beloved by many, and
 he leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who
 were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Judge Eustolio Gonzales; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Eustolio Gonzales.
