SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 593 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize George L. Gonzales, who retired from the Webb County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service on March 27, 2015; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales served as a county-based extension educator for more than 34 years; after four years of service as an assistant county extension agent in Bee County, he was promoted to the position of county extension agent for Webb County Agriculture and Natural Resources; and WHEREAS, During his tenure, he earned the highest rank of an AgriLife Extension agent; he co-authored 63 research demonstration reports, and as a result of his exceptional work as an agent, numerous educational programs and initiatives to improve the quality of life in Texas were created; he was the first Webb County extension agent to receive the Regents Fellow Service Award from the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents; and WHEREAS, An accomplished educator and media communicator, Mr. Gonzales served as the county extension coordinator for Webb County, and he gained the respect of numerous local elected officials; and WHEREAS, He exemplified the best in county extension education, and he instilled the highest level of professionalism in the many agents he helped train; his presence at the Webb County Extension Office will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend George L. Gonzales on his dedication to his work with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and on his many contributions to the state and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
