| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Warren Seay Jr., president of the DeSoto Independent |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | School District Board of Trustees, who is being honored for his |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | outstanding service and many accomplishments at a reception on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | May 8, 2015; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Warren Seay is a truly distinguished young man who |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | has found immense success as a scholar, as an attorney, and as a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | dedicated community servant; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of the Southern Methodist University |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Dedman School of Law, Mr. Seay was a recipient of the prestigious |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Harry S. Truman Scholarship, and he was named a USA Today |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Academic All-American; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, He is currently an associate member of Winstead's |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Real Estate Finance group, where he represents banks at the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | local, regional, and national levels and specializes in working |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | with clients still recovering from the international financial |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | crisis; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In May of 2009, Mr. Seay became the youngest elected |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | official in Dallas County history when he won a seat on the DeSoto |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Independent School District Board of Trustees at the age of 20; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | subsequently, he was elected four consecutive years to serve as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the board president and has been deemed the youngest school board |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | president in the nation; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, As board president, Mr. Seay has worked to ensure |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | that all students have the tools they need to succeed in college |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and beyond, regardless of race or income; he has promoted new |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | beneficial programs and has led the board to four consecutive |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | balanced budgets while lowering the tax rate and increasing |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | teachers' salaries; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Warren Seay is a truly accomplished professional |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | who has used his immense success to the betterment of his |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | community; he has won the respect and admiration of many, and his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | presence on the DeSoto Independent School District Board of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Trustees will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby commend Warren Seay Jr. for his many |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | contributions to the DeSoto Independent School District and to |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | his community and this state and extend to him best wishes for the |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
