SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 652 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Warren Seay Jr., president of the DeSoto Independent School District Board of Trustees, who is being honored for his outstanding service and many accomplishments at a reception on May 8, 2015; and WHEREAS, Warren Seay is a truly distinguished young man who has found immense success as a scholar, as an attorney, and as a dedicated community servant; and WHEREAS, A graduate of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, Mr. Seay was a recipient of the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship, and he was named a USA Today Academic All-American; and WHEREAS, He is currently an associate member of Winstead's Real Estate Finance group, where he represents banks at the local, regional, and national levels and specializes in working with clients still recovering from the international financial crisis; and WHEREAS, In May of 2009, Mr. Seay became the youngest elected official in Dallas County history when he won a seat on the DeSoto Independent School District Board of Trustees at the age of 20; subsequently, he was elected four consecutive years to serve as the board president and has been deemed the youngest school board president in the nation; and WHEREAS, As board president, Mr. Seay has worked to ensure that all students have the tools they need to succeed in college and beyond, regardless of race or income; he has promoted new beneficial programs and has led the board to four consecutive balanced budgets while lowering the tax rate and increasing teachers' salaries; and WHEREAS, Warren Seay is a truly accomplished professional who has used his immense success to the betterment of his community; he has won the respect and admiration of many, and his presence on the DeSoto Independent School District Board of Trustees will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Warren Seay Jr. for his many contributions to the DeSoto Independent School District and to his community and this state and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
