SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 663 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Linda Henrie, who is retiring from her position as superintendent of the Mesquite Independent School District after 43 years of outstanding service to the district; and WHEREAS, Dr. Henrie began her career with the district by serving as a teacher at Mesquite High School in 1967; she became an assistant principal at Vanston Middle School in 1986 and soon began ascending the ranks of administrative leadership; and WHEREAS, She served as the administrative officer for Curriculum Development, assistant superintendent of Instructional Services, and deputy superintendent of schools before taking on the role of superintendent of schools in 2005; and WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Dr. Henrie has remained active in numerous professional and community organizations; she served as president of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development for two years, and her belief in the value of community partnerships and her work as a member and chairman of the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce helped position the district for its long-term success; and WHEREAS, Linda Henrie has been recognized for educational and administrative excellence at the local, state, and national levels; she is a true leader in her field, and her presence with the Mesquite Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Linda Henrie on her exceptional career with the Mesquite Independent School District and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
