| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Glenda and Jerry Kane, who are being honored by Mental |

| 4 | 4 | | Health America of Texas with the Texas Impact Award at the 52nd |

| 5 | 5 | | Annual Honoring Dinner: An Evening of Hope; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Glenda Kane has been a public health advocate for |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | more than three decades; she served for five years as a member of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the Texas Board of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, where |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | she was instrumental in having substance abuse categorized as a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | disease; she has also chaired the Texas Department of State |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Health Services Council; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Kane served on the board of the Texas |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Rehabilitation Commission for 20 years, including 17 years as its |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | chair, and he has also chaired the Health and Human Services |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Commission Council; he has further served the state on The |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | University of Texas Chancellor's Executive Committee, the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Governor's Commission for Disaster Recovery and Renewal, and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | State of Texas Natural Resources Advisory Council; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This distinguished Corpus Christi couple has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | played a vital role in ensuring that the citizens of South Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | have a voice in the state's health care decisions; they are truly |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | deserving of special recognition for their long-term service and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | their dedicated efforts on behalf of the people of Texas; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Glenda and Jerry Kane for the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | profound effect they have had on the delivery of health care |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | services in our state and extend congratulations to them on |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | receiving the Texas Impact Award; and, be it further |
