SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 687 In Memory of Sarah Enriquez Garcia WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Sarah Enriquez Garcia, who died February 16, 2015, at the age of 45; and WHEREAS, Sarah Garcia was an exemplary citizen who was widely admired in the El Paso community for her volunteerism and her many achievements; and WHEREAS, Sarah was a graduate of Burges High School; she was married to the love of her life, the late Charlie Garcia, and she was devoted to her stepson, Michael Garcia; in 2008, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Garcia served the state with distinction as an employee of the Division of Workers' Compensation in the Texas Department of Insurance and as a staff member for Senator Eliot Shapleigh; she was a tireless volunteer with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the El Paso Multiple Sclerosis Association, and she helped her husband organize the first local multiple sclerosis golf tournament; and WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she gave unselfishly to others, and her generous spirit and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted daughter, wife, and stepmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Sarah Enriquez Garcia; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sarah Enriquez Garcia.
