SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 692 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Captain B. F. Wade for his 65 years of outstanding law enforcement service; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, B. F. Wade graduated from Savoy High School in 1944 and enlisted in the United States Navy; he served with distinction aboard the USS White Plains during World War II; and WHEREAS, After the war, he served as a member of the Sherman Police Department before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety as a state trooper in 1951; during the course of his 30-year career with the department, Captain Wade served in Grayson and Fannin Counties, and he accepted postings in Midland and Harlingen; he retired as a commander in Beaumont in 1984; and WHEREAS, Following his retirement, he became a special ranger, and in 1988, he was appointed bailiff for the 59th District Court; in 1992, he became a police officer at Grayson College, where he has served for 23 years and is well-loved by students and staff; and WHEREAS, After more than six decades of law enforcement service, this octogenarian has a wealth of experience and is a valued public servant; he is a recipient of the rare Dinosaur Award given by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, and his exemplary career serves as an inspiration to many; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Captain B. F. Wade on his exceptional 65-year career in the field of law enforcement and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
