| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Lufkin High School boys' soccer team, which won the |

| 4 | 4 | | 2015 Class 5A state championship; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Lufkin Panthers won the school's first state |

| 6 | 6 | | title in soccer by defeating the previously unbeaten Georgetown |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | East View High School Patriots by a score of 3-1; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, These young student-athletes have demonstrated |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | great talent and perseverance over the course of the year; they |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | won their last 26 games in a row to finish the season with a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | record of 26-2-1; team members can take great pride in their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | outstanding performance; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of head coach |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Russell Shaw, the Panthers have developed exceptional teamwork |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and discipline; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Lufkin High School and the people of East Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | are proud of the Panthers for their hard work, their impressive |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |

| 20 | 20 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Lufkin High School boys' soccer |

| 21 | 21 | | team on its successful season and extend congratulations to team |

| 22 | 22 | | members on winning the 2015 Class 5A state championship; and, be |
