                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 714
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Lufkin High School boys' soccer team, which won the
 2015 Class 5A state championship; and
 WHEREAS, The Lufkin Panthers won the school's first state
 title in soccer by defeating the previously unbeaten Georgetown
 East View High School Patriots by a score of 3-1; and
 WHEREAS, These young student-athletes have demonstrated
 great talent and perseverance over the course of the year; they
 won their last 26 games in a row to finish the season with a
 record of 26-2-1; team members can take great pride in their
 outstanding performance; and
 WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of head coach
 Russell Shaw, the Panthers have developed exceptional teamwork
 and discipline; and
 WHEREAS, Lufkin High School and the people of East Texas
 are proud of the Panthers for their hard work, their impressive
 skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commend the Lufkin High School boys' soccer
 team on its successful season and extend congratulations to team
 members on winning the 2015 Class 5A state championship; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the Panthers as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
