| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dow Chemical Company's Texas Operations in Freeport on |

| 4 | 4 | | the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In the late 1930s, Dow Chemical Company was |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | seeking to expand its operations to the United States Gulf Coast; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | after scouting locations from New Orleans to Brownsville, the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | company chose the Freeport area for its new manufacturing site; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the area was chosen due to the region's proximity to sea water |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | that was rich in magnesium, its natural gas reserves, and its |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | harbor; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Since its beginnings in 1940, Texas Operations |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | has grown to become the largest petrochemical manufacturing |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | complex in the world and is a major economic engine for Freeport, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Brazoria County, and the entire state; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated men and women who have worked at |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texas Operations through the years have played a major role in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the company's success; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that this exceptional company |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | receive special recognition for the positive economic impact it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | has had on the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dow Chemical Company on its many |

| 24 | 24 | | contributions to the growth and prosperity of Freeport, Brazoria |

| 25 | 25 | | County, and our state and extend best wishes to all on Dow Texas |
