| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Members of Grace Cathedral Church in Houston are |

| 3 | 3 | | celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding of their church |

| 4 | 4 | | on June 28, 2015; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1985 by Mildred Woodard, Christine |

| 6 | 6 | | and John Brooks, Julia Haynes, Rance Allen, Bessie Mayes, and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Forrest and Velma Mitchell, Grace Cathedral Church has played a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | vital role in the community, providing myriad opportunities for |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | spiritual growth, fellowship, and outreach; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Worshippers first benefited from the able |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | leadership of the Reverend Lewis Terry Jr., and today that |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | tradition of service is continued by the Reverend Charles |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | H. Taylor Sr.; in 2002, Pastor Taylor helped organize the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | G. C. Community Development Corporation, which works through the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | church to provide affordable housing for seniors; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, For three decades, Grace Cathedral Church has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | served as a source of inspiration and guidance to all those who |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | are involved in its activities, and its continued existence is a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | testament to the unwavering commitment of its members and clergy, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | both past and present; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Grace Cathedral Church on the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | occasion of its 30th anniversary homecoming celebration and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | extend to its pastor and congregation sincere best wishes for the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | future; and, be it further |
