| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Larkspur Elementary School on the occasion of its 50th |

| 4 | 4 | | anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Larkspur Elementary School is in the North East |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Independent School District in San Antonio; the school's motto is |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | "Equity and Excellence Every Child Every Day"; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The school offers an array of initiatives to help |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | its students prepare for life in today's complex society; the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | school's Dual Language Program seeks to empower and develop |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | bilingual and bi-literate students; the program's goal is that |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | half of the students in its classes be native English speakers |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and half of the students be native Spanish speakers; the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | participating students work together to gain an appreciation of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | each other's cultures while learning a second language; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Larkspur Elementary School sponsors two special |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | events each year to celebrate its students' progress; the Fall |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Festival is held in November, and the Parade of Nations takes |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | place in May; the school also offers a rotation of physical |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | education and music classes, and its extended library hours, its |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | child-centered science laboratory, and its extracurricular |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | activities play an important role in creating an excellent |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | educational environment; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For 50 years, Larkspur Elementary School has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided its students with the foundation they need to be |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | successful in their future educational endeavors, and the school |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | deserves special recognition on this milestone in its history; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend the administration, faculty, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | staff of Larkspur Elementary School on their commitment to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | excellence in education over the last 50 years and extend to them |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
