                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 750
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Larkspur Elementary School on the occasion of its 50th
 anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, Larkspur Elementary School is in the North East
 Independent School District in San Antonio; the school's motto is
 "Equity and Excellence Every Child Every Day"; and
 WHEREAS, The school offers an array of initiatives to help
 its students prepare for life in today's complex society; the
 school's Dual Language Program seeks to empower and develop
 bilingual and bi-literate students; the program's goal is that
 half of the students in its classes be native English speakers
 and half of the students be native Spanish speakers; the
 participating students work together to gain an appreciation of
 each other's cultures while learning a second language; and
 WHEREAS, Larkspur Elementary School sponsors two special
 events each year to celebrate its students' progress; the Fall
 Festival is held in November, and the Parade of Nations takes
 place in May; the school also offers a rotation of physical
 education and music classes, and its extended library hours, its
 child-centered science laboratory, and its extracurricular
 activities play an important role in creating an excellent
 educational environment; and
 WHEREAS, For 50 years, Larkspur Elementary School has
 provided its students with the foundation they need to be
 successful in their future educational endeavors, and the school
 deserves special recognition on this milestone in its history;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commend the administration, faculty, and
 staff of Larkspur Elementary School on their commitment to
 excellence in education over the last 50 years and extend to them
 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the school as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
